FoxNews Reports at 8:10 a.m. on September 26, 2003 that Robert Palmer has died of a heart attack.

He will be remembered fondly. Robert's music spanned more than 20 years and genres from big band to reggae to rock to blues . He was one of my favorite artists, as you might have guessed from this fan web page and I owned probably 15 of his albums. I once performed "Addicted to Love" complete with the "Robert Palmer Girls" in front of my high school for theatre class. He will be sorely missed by the music community worldwide. Here is an article from CNN which is reprinted below.

--J
LONDON, England (CNN) -- Rock singer Robert Palmer has died in Paris
of a heart attack at the age of 54, his manager said.

The British star, whose chart hits in the 1980s included Addicted
to Love, suffered the attack in the early hours of this morning,
Mick Cater said.

Palmer, who lived in Switzerland, was staying in the French capital
with his partner, Mary Ambrose, after recording a TV appearance
in the UK.

"I can't say anything else at this point, I'm just in shock,"
Cater of What Management in England told CNN.

Robert Palmer

Quite possibly my favourite arists of all times. Robert Palmer (the Rock artist not the Blues artist) has always been on the cutting edge (whether that edge be yours, mine, or his). He is never a man who has followed the pack. He started off in the 70's in the typical rock band which also was into R&B. In the early 80's his experimentation with synthesizers set the stage for the rush of 80's electronic music. By the time that happened, however, he was hard into rock-pop. After his initial public fame in the mid to late 80's, he returned to that which is sacred to him, what I believe has always been in his heart: 1940's Jazz. Not one of his albums is constant, not one has all songs fitting the same theme. It is this kind of fearless abandon that has attracted me to his honest and powerful music.

NOTE: This Robert Palmer is still alive and well!

A different musician with the same name passed away 11/97.

Explanation:

Robert Palmer, musician, writer and inspiration to the blues community, died

No, it's not Michael Jackson, though we've been tracking him pretty closely,
wouldn't you say. Courtney Love? Nope, that was last summer.

This time it's Robert Palmer, who showed up at the World Scrabble
         Championship in London last weekend.
